The Big Red House - Cambria, California
Cambria, CA, Ocean View Home
This immaculately clean and well appointed home with white water views
is located on a knoll just three very short blocks from the ocean. The
house, which sleeps seven, is wheel chair accessible, has two bedrooms, a
den with a comfortable Queen sofa bed, two and one half bathrooms,
kitchen, and a dining room. Children are welcomed, as are well-behaved
dogs with a security deposit. Cambria, a quaint seaside village on the
California Central Coast located midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, is
nestled in a Monterey pine forest at the foot of the picturesque
Highway One and Big Sur coastline. Hearst Castle, San Simeon, is just six miles
north and over 100 wineries in Paso Robles & San Luis Obispo , are all within a scenic drive. Cambria is
an artist colony and contains many fine galleries, antique shops and
several outstanding restaurants. Local live theater and an interesting
Elephant Seal colony are just two of the many entertaining diversions
available. The surfing conditions are ideal and the beaches are
un-crowded. There are wonderful biking and hiking trails, and kayaking
is always an option.

Here's what "San Francisco" magazine said in Feb. 2007 -
"The most relaxing experience is to be had by renting one of the many
private homes available along the water and up the seaside hill. Your
first choice should be Walter and Elaine Evans’s Big Red House.
The airy structure is decorated with impressive art and furniture far
more modern than the typical seaside cottage’s. A two-block walk from
the beach, it has cul-de-sac seclusion, ocean views, and creature
comforts like DVDs and magazines to curl up with. The Evanses are next
door, on hand to offer advice should you choose to leave the comforts
of their home."
Comments From our Guestbook
"As
I sit here in the living room, watching the sun go down over the
Pacific, I think back on the five wonderful days that Don & I (and
of course our “children” McKenna & George) have had in Cambria.
Your lovely home was so restful and located in such a
beautiful place! We take home with us precious memories, and so many of
them are of time spent in and around The Big Red House. Thank you again
for making our cambria vacation so special. Your kindness will be remembered!
God bless and we hope to see you again."

"Your
hospitality and generosity are beyond words. Simply put, you both have
been the perfect hosts. You have provided us with all the comforts of
home and more!. You made us feel welcome and right at home the moment
you saw us. You have both proven there are still people in the world
with generous hearts and genuine caring!"
Thank you, Mark & Brian "We
came to rest, relax and enjoy the awesome beauty of God’s creation. It
has been more than we could even imagine here on the California Central Coast.
Thank you for your kind hospitality. We felt at home and were
especially appreciative of your welcoming our little dog, “Annie”. The
muffins were yummy, thank you, the flowers lovely, We so enjoyed our
time here."
Jeff & Meg……Annie too!
"First
bite of Elaine’s perfectly baked bran muffins…it was confirmed….we had
arrived here, Heaven on earth. Everything was absolutely perfect. The
media selection, the fragrant little bath soaps, the hospitality, the
well stocked kitchen, fine woodworking magazine (my favorite!) &
“California Design”, fresh flowers----Oh my—did I mention the media
selection? Thanks for extending your home. Till next time…"

"Elaine & Walt Thanks
for another wonderful trip to the Coast. We had a great time. This time
with “Roxie” our new nine- week old Austrailian Shepherd pup. She
loves the bridge out back and made a point to cross over again and
again, Thanks for the tips on where to take her. She loves the beach.
We’ll be back" soon!"
As always, Cliff & Debbie Clovis, CA
"Thank
you for another wonderful stay. We love it here at the Big Red House.
And thanks for your tips on things to do. We loved the waterfall at
Salmon Creek. As Grandma used to say”God willing we’ll be back next
year”. Thanks again."
Kelly, Gregg, & Sean Woodland Hills, CA "Dear Elaine & Walter
Your English friends descend again. A perfect time as always but
not enough time to do all the things we’d planned—so we’ll have to
return for trip # 7. Love you both, see you soon."

England
"Elaine & Walter from Beth & Stan:
Life
is so beautiful when you stop and see it, smell the sea, watch the
waves wash away what you thought could not. I have found that place
that has brought my mind, body, and spirit back to me, Rejuvenated I
depart and wait until I can return. I have found my soul mate in life,
Stanley. I have now found my spiritual place on earth. This Red House I
take home with me. Thank you, Caring meant so much. Until we meet
again."
